Ministry sees Russia’s car sales falling 6.7% to 1.4 mln in 2016

MOSCOW, Jun 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry expects sales of new cars to fall 6.7% on the year to 1.4 million vehicles in 2016 under the baseline scenario, the ministry said in a presentation seen by PRIME on Monday.

The ministry’s optimistic scenario sees car sales rising 6.7% on the year to 1.6 million cars in 2016, but the pessimistic scenario encompasses a 13.3% contraction to 1.3 million cars, and the negative one implies a 26.7% fall to 1.1 million units, the ministry said.

For 2017, the ministry expects sales of 1.5 million new cars under the baseline scenario, similar to the sales in 2015, but the optimistic scenario sees sales soaring 26.7% to 1.9 million cars compared with the 2015 figures.
